Implant site development is when we rebuild the bone in an area that is lacking in enough bone to hold a dental implant. This insufficient bone site is often due to many reasons, but it is not uncommon that it is a result of an infected tooth. No matter the reason for the lack of bone, there is a type of bone grafting procedure to facilitate the ability to place a dental implant.
If you have lost you upper back teeth, chances are that your sinus may enlarge in size resulting in an inadequate amount of bone height in the upper jaw. In order to replace these missing teeth with dental implants, the sinus must be lifted so that the implants have enough bone to be placed in.
Once the sinus has been relocated to its original position, bone is grafted to prepare for the dental implants — the healing process 4-6 months.
