Many patients fear the surgeries and procedure they require for their dental health. Often time people experience anxiety and stress when it comes to common procedure such as root canals, tooth extraction, and other oral surgeries. The solution to their worrying is sedation dentistry.
Sedation dentistry allows you the convivence of having your dental procedure without having to be awake for it. Sedation dentistry is closely regulated and comes with three sedation level choices: mild, moderate, and deep sedation.
Mild Sedation- For patients who experience anxiety, longer procedures, or more complex situations, anxiolysis or nitrous oxide inhalation (laughing gas) is used to sedate patients into a mild sedation. You remain awake the whole time but with a great sense of relaxation. Patients commonly recover from the sedation after a few hours.
Moderate Sedation- Typically used with IV sedatives, moderate sedation still allows the patient to remain awake but in an even deep state of relaxation. This form of sedation requires you to have someone with you during the process so that they can take you home after the procedure.
