How to Properly Brush and Floss from Coshocton Dentistry

One of our primary focus points at Coshocton Dentistry is patient education. We know that the more informed you are, the better you will be able to care for your oral health. 

We often find that our patients make a good effort to clean their teeth but sometimes aren't as effective as they could be, and that could, in the long run, lead to problems such as gingivitis, gum infections, decay.

How to Brush Your Teeth

• Use a soft-bristle toothbrush.
• Place the bristles at a 45-degree angle towards the gum tissue.
• Rotate the brush in large circles getting the teeth and the gums at the same time all-around your mouth.
• When you get to the molars, make sure to do a back and forth motion on the "biting parts" of your teeth.
• Make sure to end by brushing your tongue.
• Replace your toothbrush every three to four months.
• Brush at least twice a day for at least two minutes. 

How to Floss

• Floss at least once a day.
• Warp the floss around your two index fingers.
• Make sure to gentle get in between each and every tooth.
• Make sure to get underneath the gum tissue as well, but be gentle!
