Going to the dentist can be scary for some people for many reasons. And one of those reasons is all of the instruments and tools we use can look intimidating. But rest assured, these tools are not scary, just unfamiliar – that is why today, we are going to go over some of the most commonly used tools in our office that can seem a little off-putting.
The dental laser, although it may sound scary, is not! It is used to clean soft tissue such as inflamed gums. It is a very comfortable process and leaves your teeth and gums feeling refreshed!
The CEREC machine is used to create in-office crowns. Before the CEREC machine, we would have to order patient crowns and wait for them to arrive, but now we can have them almost immediately!
Our x-ray machines are state-of-the-art technology providing us with three-dimensional x-rays, almost like a CAT scan. This helps us identify issues before they become a bigger problem.
This caddy holds all of the tools we need to clean the decay out of your tooth if you are getting a filling.
Forceps can look scary on the tray, but they aren't! These just help us get a better grip on anything we are working with inside your mouth.
Carving instruments like the one shown in the video help us shape your fillings to create a natural-looking tooth.
The scaler allows us to lightly clean under the gum tissue to provide a better clean!
This helps us measure your gums to determine if a patient has gum disease.
Although going to the dentist can seem scary because of all of these foreign tools, it is so important for your dental and general health!
So don't put your cleaning off because of fear; schedule an appointment today!
