Mini implants can be a great way for patients to restore their smiles and give them the stability of natural teeth. They are similar to traditional dental implants but smaller!
Traditional implants are usually 3 1/2 to 6 millimeters wide, while mini implants are 1 1/2 millimeters wide. The advantage is that you can use them in spaces in your mouth or in the bone width isn't quite as wide.
With traditional implants, we sometimes have to do a bone graft to ensure there will be enough room and enough bone to place the implants.
Because the mini implants are smaller, they cost less, and they can sometimes be placed without a bone graft which makes the process much more affordable.

The longevity of mini implants is comparable to that of traditional implants. However, since they are smaller, there is a possibility that they can break down faster. With proper care, they can last a very long time.
As with any dental procedure, it depends on the patient's situation. If your mouth and bone struct allow for it, we can replace all teeth with mini implants. But this is also when we would look into other options such as implant-supported dentures.
