Preventative dentistry is just a fancy way of saying maintaining good oral health. At Coshocton Dentistry, we really focus on preventative dentistry for our patients to help them keep their smiles happy and healthy!
Regular Cleanings
Coming in for regular cleanings is the simplest form of preventative dental care. At these appointments, we can help limit plaque, reduce the possibility of gum disease, and so much more.
The frequency of these regular appointments will vary by patient, but in general, it is twice a year or every six months.
X-Rays
About once a year, we will also perform X-Rays to make sure what we can't see from regular cleanings is in tip-top shape too. X-Rays allow us to see if there are any issues inside your teeth such as the start of a cavity.
Fluoride Varnish
Fluoride varnish is a great way to prevent cavities by providing an extra layer of protection around your teeth, especially in those hard to reach places.
Preventative care is always the best option, no matter what topic you are discussing. With dental care, it is always better to catch issues before they become too problematic.
By practicing good at-home dental care mixed with preventative dentistry measures, avoiding issues such as cavities, gum disease, and more is much easier!
Not only that but by avoiding these bigger issues, you save time and money by not having to come in for additional treatments or procedures. And, by catching problems when they are smaller, you are less likely to experience painful or uncomfortable side effects.
